Have you heard of The Scrappy Elephant? It is a local shop located in Palmyra, Va. It is run by the sweetest owner, Sarah Sweet. I can’t wait to share all the details of this sweet shop.
Recently I was able to take my girls out exploring. We had heard of The Scrappy Elephant, but had never been. We called ahead and reserved the craft room for an hour. It was just our family and the girls were able to craft until their hearts desires were content. The best part!? I didn’t need to bring materials or need to clean up!!
As you walk into The Scrappy Elephant, you are in the midst of a store front filled with materials that people in the community have donated. In fact, The Scrappy Elephant has saved 12, 579lbs of arts and crafts material from the landfill! Wooza! To purchase items, you can choose from various sized gift bag options, purchase and then fill the bag. Or you can, do what we did and, purchase a canvas bag and then reuse it on future visits-and the bag holds an incredible amount!
The storefront is perfect for knitters to go and purchase yarn and knitting needles that have been donated at a steal of a price! There is also fabric to choose from for those that sew! There are stamps, markers, paper, scrapbooking, jewelry making items and craft kits to purchase…the list goes on and on! Even my fourteen-year-old found some pens she couldn’t resist getting!
In the craft room, we had the whole place to ourselves for an entire hour. There was a speaker for us to connect the bluetooth on my phone for music. There was a glue gun available for use. My eleven-year-old scooped the place out looking at everything before she put a game plan into place with what she wanted to create. My little girls had fun looking around and kept moving from this to that. My fourteen-year-old made letter magnets and earrings. It was a great family time that all enjoyed!
