Let’s talk Christmas games! I never really thought about incorporating games into the holidays aside from the typical Monopoly night or the new games that will be under the tree. I joined a facebook group that is all about games and homeschooling and let me tell you…my pocket is hurting lol. I love playing games and this just feeds my addiction.
I was finally able to create a family game night that we can keep consistently. We play games other times too, but this is where no matter what, we have family time and play games together as a family. I love that my four year old is finally old enough to play certain games, so when we have game night without the older girls, she can still join in.
So for the 12 days of Christmas, the idea is to have 12 games you play twice during advent. Or you can just do the last 12 days of Christmas. This year I had to purchase most of the games, as we didn’t have any. Next year I plan to reuse these games and only purchase one or two new ones and just build over the years discarding the ones that don’t get played as often.

Santa Cookie Elf Candy Snowman
Last night we played Elf and that was a fantastic family game! It is short and lots of fun! I have played many cooperative games, so it neat getting to finally play one. For this fun game, we took turns making a path to our destinations. No one knows your destinations except you. At the end who ever had the most points won. This game is great for families with older kiddos and younger ones as well!
Llama Drama Holiday edition was so much fun! I was able to play it with my four year old. It’s set up similarly to skip bo. It worked on a hierarchy and she picked up quickly on what each llama did. I also loved that we worked on numbers, knowing which number was higher or lower, without her realizing it. And she’s only four! We then played with big sissies and they were so impressed and also enjoyed the game.
Snowman Dice looks to be a favorite as my four year old can play and even my two year old can have turns. This game is set up for four players to play at once, I will be purchasing a second set so that more people can play at once. In this fun game you roll your dice until they line up creating a snowman. Then you have to balance them to the North Pole. But beware of the snowball die!
Santa Cookie Elf Candy Snowman is a game I can’t wait to play. My husband is always unwilling to play and during COVID I purchased taco cat goat cheese pizza. He loved and we had so much fun playing. This the Christmas version of that game. I found this one hilarious as my four year old kept correcting us for saying the wrong words for the cards! If you’ve played, you know what I mean hehehe.
Spot It Holiday Edition is great for the younger kiddos and I find works best with only 2-3 players. I was able to place this with my four year old after she felt left out of some other games. So it worked great for keeping the peace and allowing her to feel apart of game night.
I have a few new games on my list for next year, but honestly I’m ecstatic over my choices, especially since I’ll be putting them away after the holidays so they won’t be over played.
